My name is Claire Taylor, I am 20 years old and from Drumcondra in Dublin. I am a second year student in DCU, studying Geography and Politics. I am currently the secretary of DCU’s Pádraig Pearse Cumann. I am also active in the senior party and I’m on the officer board of my local CDC Dublin North West and a member of Dublin North West Ógra.
I became more active in Ográ when I joined DCU in 2022. As the new Membership & Recruitment director my priorities are to recruit and retain more women by organising workshops, activities and discussions centred around encouraging women to get more involved in politics. Engaging recruitment weeks provide the best opportunity for us to increase our membership and my goal is to have an updated approach to the recruitment campaigns that we have taken in recent years and also putting more focus on our republican identity. It is a priority of mine to ensure that all Ógra units are active and engaged and I will assist units in returning their registration forms and gaining access to their membership lists.
I will also be in close collaboration with the National Youth Officer to develop an updated membership handbook that would serve as an invaluable resource for new and existing members. My goal is to revamp our merchandise to reflect modern trends, I will be sourcing new halfzips and/or crewnecks that will be used as tools to assist with recruitment and canvassing with the upcoming elections.
