Tragic loss of life as woman dies after being struck by getaway car – Lahart

Fianna Fail Spokesperson on Dublin, John Lahart TD, has expressed his shock after the death of a woman who died after she was hit by a car used as a getaway vehicle in South Dublin.

The 54-year-old woman  was one of two women who were struck when the car mounted a pavement in Killiney on Tuesday night.

Deputy Lahart said: “I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life in this tragedy. The other woman injured remains in hospital for treatment and I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

“I am appealing for anyone with information to this senseless tragedy to come forward. An innocent woman out enjoying a walk with her friend has lost her life.

“Gardaí are searching for three raiders who abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot and I would urge anyone with information to contact gardaí. The men had been involved in an armed robbery at the Centra shop on Barnhill Road in Dalkey. A knife had been used in the robbery before the raiders who fled at speed in the car which tragically struck the two women.”
