Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan and proposed Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport, and the Gaeltacht Niamh Smyth has met with members of Muineachán le Gaeilge to discuss issues within the Irish language community.
She commented, “I was delighted to meet with members of our local branch of Conradh na Gaelige, Muineachán le Gaeilge. We discussed the challenges facing the Irish language community, including the funding issues which stakeholders are experiencing.
“A new round of funding for Foras na Gaeilge will be announced for 2021 – 2024. The members from County Monaghan expressed the need for additional funding. I will now discuss these issues with my colleagues in Government, including Minister Martin.
“Muineachán le Gaeilge do tremendous work in promoting the Irish language in the county and their wider organisation nationwide. I look forward to engaging with them further and raising their concerns with the Minister,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
