Minister Rabbitte secures €65 million once off fund to support Section 39 providers in the disability sector
Funding being allocated this year to support community based voluntary organisations
Minister of State with Responsibility for Disability Anne Rabbitte TD has secured a €65 million once off fund to support Section 39 (S39) providers in the disability sector.
This significant fund is being allocated this year to support community based voluntary organisations who are an essential pillar in the provision of disability services across the country.
Announcing the fund, Minister Rabbitte said:
“Having listened to the concerns and experiences of Section 39 organisations, Nursing Homes, and hospices I’m delighted to confirm that in Budget 2023 I have secured a €65 million once off fund to support S39 providers in the disability sector.
“This €65 million will go toward supporting these essential organisations against cost-of-living shocks such as increasing energy bills as we move through the winter.
“The current period of inflation is a real challenge for the sector and this fund will maintain key health and social care services while cushioning service providers from increased costs for energy, heating, and other essential costs.
“I’m very aware of the real difficulties the sector is experiencing in maintaining its service provision and this funding will be made available in the last quarter of 2022.
“I want to thank Minister Michael McGrath and Minister Stephen Donnelly who I have worked closely with on this to secure this significant support for the S39 providers in the disability sector.
“This funding is evidence of Fianna Fáil’s commitment to the disability sector and I will continue to work with my party colleagues to ensure a better service for those who access disability services as well as those who provide care in the sector.”
