Senator Erin McGreehan has called on the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children, Disability, Equality and Integration to invite the Chairperson of the Commission of Investigation into the Mother and Baby Homes report to come before the committee to discuss the final report.
Senator McGreehan, who is a member of the committee, commented, “I believe the committee discussion could be the environment in which members could question the chairperson on areas of the report.
“There are many contradictions or a lack of conclusions in the Report that has genuinely upset many of the survivors, who in good faith gave their testimony’s and feel let down. I would very much value the opportunity to discuss the reasons for the Commissions comments in the Report.”
In response, Senator McGreehan was informed that this matter will be passed to members in advance of the meeting on Tuesday next and that they would consider the correspondence in further detail at the meeting on the 26th January.
