Fianna Fáil will tomorrow launch its plan to make Dublin a safe, welcoming, and livable city for all.

Speaking ahead of the launch Minister Jack Chambers said, “We have an ambitious plan to shape Dublin as a European capital that is economically sustainable, socially inclusive, culturally rich and environmentally resilient.

“We are committed to increasing the supply of homes. We will make Dublin safer by boosting Garda presence, reforming the policing model, creating a dedicated transport police unit, and investing in local communities.’’

Minister Darragh O’Brien pointed to the progress achieved under the Housing for All plan which has delivered the highest levels of home construction in a generation. He said, “As a Party, and at the heart of Fianna Fáil is the belief and aspiration that everybody should have access to good-quality homes, located in the right places, to purchase or rent at an affordable price. Our message is clear, more homes, more homeowners. We will create a €100,000 ‘Above the Shop’ grant to make retail spaces liveable, ramp up construction to 60,000 homes per year by 2030, and double the rent tax credit to €2,000.''

General Election candidate for Dublin Central Mary Fitzpatrick reflected on Dublin’s growing transport infrastructure, citing record passenger numbers across services like Dublin Bus, Luas, and Iarnród Éireann, as well as rising activity in Dublin Port. “To tackle climate change, improve air quality, and boost well-being, we must continue to prioritise efficient and sustainable public transport. If returned to Government Fianna Fáil will deliver Metrolink for Dublin, grow the DART network and continue to build safer cycle routes throughout Dublin to make this a cycling friendly city.''

On community safety, General Election candidate for Dún Laoghaire Cormac Devlin highlighted the devastation caused by drug-related crime. “Too many communities are plagued by intimidation and anti-social behaviour, with a minority causing harm to the entire area. Drugs, in particular, are destroying lives, families, and entire communities. Fianna Fáil will continue to strengthen our health-led response to drug addiction. At the same time, we are committed to ensuring that criminals flooding our towns and cities with drugs face tougher sentences that reflect the devastating harm they cause in our communities.’’
