Clifford-Lee calls on the HSE to publish all public health campaigns in Irish

Fianna Fáil Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee has expressed her extreme disappointment and frustration with the HSE for choosing to leave Irish out of a multilingual public information campaign on vaccines. The new HSE campaign sees the HSE publishing public health information videos in 10 languages, but not Irish, to encourage pregnant women to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Senator Clifford-Lee, “This campaign by the HSE to encourage pregnant women to get vaccinated against Covid-19 is very welcome. The fact they have sought to run a multilingual campaign is also welcomed. However, the fact they have not included a video in Irish as part of this campaign is extremely disappointing and frustrating.

“Just last week the HSE was in front of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Irish Language where they promised to do better in producing public health awareness campaigns in Irish and make Irish a central feature of all future system planning and information. The HSE has failed Irish speakers during this pandemic and continue to do so despite the many apologies and excuses last week”
