Fianna Fáil TD for Waterford, Mary Butler, has welcomed confirmation from Bank of Ireland (BoI) that three branches in Waterford which were temporarily closed due to COVID-19 will reopen from June 29th.

The BoI branch in Lismore is set to reopen on June 29th, from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday while the Ardkeen and Kilmacthomas branches will be open from 10am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Deputy Butler, who made several representations to BoI chiefs, urging them not to downgrade services or permanently close branches, said there will be relief for the people of these towns.

She said, “This is very welcome news for business owners and individuals in the three towns. There was major concern that BoI would use the current situation to keep these branches closed or downgrade their services.

“With regards to Kilmacthomas and Ardkeen I have asked BoI to clarify the length of time they expect to operate the 10am to 1pm service and whether they envisage a full 10am to 4pm service being available at these locations in the near future.

“The country is starting to reopen, and the wheels of local economies are starting to move again. We are encouraging people to buy locally. It’s only right that we support them in doing so and make it as easy as possible for them,” concluded Deputy Butler.
