“Dublin airport is very poorly serviced by public transport, there is no rail link and there is often a long queue for a taxi. There is no direct bus from the airport directly to Ballymun, Glasnevin or Finglas in Dublin North West, despite only being 10 kilometres away. If the metro project was more advanced and if there were better bus links from the airport, I could understand the DAA’s logic but until such a time as that’s the case this measure should be paused or scrapped. To charge someone collecting or dropping off their friend or family at the airport is bad for tourism in the city,” concluded McAuliffe.
