Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West, Aindrias Moynihan has welcomed the 50% reduction for young adults across the transport sector, saying it will make public transport a much more attractive option for young people.
This will be implemented through the introduction of the Young Adult Travel Card, that all young adults aged 19-23 can apply for. The Young Adult Travel Card will be accepted across all services, including city, intercity, rural services and all expressway bus services that were not included in the last Cost of Living package.
The Cork North West TD commented, “Reducing the fare is a huge help in making public transport more attractive and establishing a pattern of using public transport from a young age is so significant. It is very important that the ticket be available to young people before they return to their education”.
In Mid-Cork the Young Adult Travel Card will be accepted on the Expressway No. 40 Cork-Tralee, which operates through Macroom, Ballymakeera and Ballyvourney and the No. 51 Cork-Galway operating through Mallow, Buttevant, Ballyhea and Charleville.
