Meet Teresa
Teresa Costello is a bright, passionate local Councillor, who has spent six years on South Dublin County Council. Teresa has made a tangible difference in her local electoral area of Tallaght Central. She threw herself in and had a laser focus on the quality of local amenities in central Tallaght during her first term as councillor, and was recently returned just votes away from the top of the poll in June 2024.
She re-energised many communities across Tallaght, ensuring engagement with with local government through her highly personal, accessible approach and a tenacious level of requests for more and better investment in Tallaght.
She is married to Tom, mam to Rhys and stepmum to Georgia, giving her direct experience of the day-to-day juggling that faces most families with teenagers in the house.
Teresa cites overcoming a diagnosis of breast cancer in her 30s as a major catalyst in her life and set up her own online peer to peer support network called “Breast Friends".
Teresa sees the real value local sporting facilities have weekly in her own family. She works with sporting clubs across many disciplines to ensure they can play a full active role in all communities.
"I embrace the opportunity to stand as a candidate for Dublin South West in the next general election. For me, the possibility of being a TD expands the policy and investment impact I could have for my community. That opportunity excites and energises me.”
