Meet Rita
Meet Rita, raised in a political family, she began canvassing with her father, Murt, for Fianna Fáil candidates in West Clare, sparking a lifelong passion for politics. Rita joined Ógra Fianna Fáil at sixteen and went on to study economics & politics, and project management at University College Dublin and National University of Ireland, Galway as well as Masters in Entrepreneurship, Project Management and eventually Politics.
Rita was the Business Manager for the Ennis Information Age Project before becoming CEO of Ennis Chamber for 13 years, a role she loved in terms of working for the benefit of Clare's capital town. She then turning her focus to her home village of Doonbeg, where she opened a café and now runs a grocery business, employing 14 people. A dedicated community leader involved in many local organisations, she serves as a County Councillor and Mayor of West Clare, advocating fiercely for rural development.
Rita is also an outdoors enthusiast, enjoying many water activities and hiking as well as pilates. She finds peace walking Doughmore Beach and is an avid reader of the classics and Stoic philosophy. A lover of GAA football, inspired by her brother Francis’s success, she believes deeply in the social and mental benefits of sports for the community. Rita’s energy and passion drive her efforts to make West Clare thrive.
Rita was a candidate in the General Election of 2020 and is working hard with her fellow party candidates to ensure success in General Election 2024.
