Meet Bridie
Growing up on a small farm in Donegal has given me a life-sustained grounding in the importance of community and the idea of Meitheal. Having moved to Co. Limerick at 20, Adare quickly became home and 34 years later I now help Seán run his pub and we have 3 children in their 20’s. I got involved in community work and became chair of Adare Tidy Towns a number of years ago. I realised that the lack of representation at local level was a disadvantage as it had been almost 10 years since there was a County Councillor in the village so I decided to stand and got elected in the 2019 local election. Making the decision to stand was personally difficult but my keen interested in politics and the desire to get things done led me to putting aside any self-doubt and finding the courage to stand. Getting elected after my first campaign is one of my proudest achievements. The role of a County Councillor is varied with each day bringing a new challenge and learning opportunity. I am working hard to assist communities throughout the constituency every day as I prepare for and look forward to the 2024 elections.
