Fianna Fáil Senator and Seanad Spokesperson on Housing, Senator Mary Fitzpatrick, is calling on Sinn Féin to drop their objections to the delivery of 1,700 social and affordable homes in Dublin Central.

Senator Fitzpatrick commented, “I am calling for Sinn Féin to drop their objections of the LDA using State land to deliver public housing. The LDA will take a central role in creating a large-scale public housing – both cost-rental and affordable purchase to qualifying families and individuals. This is clearly laid out in the LDA Act and in the Government’s “Housing For All” strategy.

“I am specifically calling on Sinn Féin not to object to the delivery of 1,700 social and affordable homes in Dublin Central, in Stoneybatter, Phibsborough and East Wall.”

Senator Fitzpatrick added, “I welcome confirmation from the LDA that they aim to deliver more than 5,000 Cost Rental and Affordable homes over the next four years. The LDA is progressing with Project Tosaigh – an initiative to activate land with planning permission that is not currently going to construction or is not being delivered quickly enough. This will accelerate the provision of public housing (both cost rental and affordable purchase) on this State land.”
